NASA Worth $1k of A Singaporean Boy's Undergrad's Artwork
Jarrod Chua’s a postgraduate under Diploma in Business Innovation and Design of SP (Singapore Polytechnic) drawings on planet-themed comics drawn the attention of United States space agency NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) , in past July 2020 (NASA) contacted him for permission to repost one of Jarrod Chua’s drawings linked to Nasa's James Webb Space Telescope. After few months , Nasa contacted him anew and paid him $1,000 following a request to modify one of his illustrations into a postcard format in order that it could be used in NASA's public propagation efforts.
Jarrod Chua spent around a year in work on this project with Nasa's public outreach department.
NASA launched Jarrod Chua's postcard with his modified illustration's on it's website last month.
It paints the planet Earth using a Hubble Space Telescope to emerge into the universe, and having an upgrade with the James Webb Space Telescope , which is 100x more potent than it's precursor.
This newly invented telescope ,that was sent into space past month, is aimed to transfigure astronomers understanding all characters of cosmos.
Stated Mr Chua:" It's like a huge time machine for Nasa. They want to look back further in time, and find out how galaxies started in the very beginning. They want to look at the first stars that lit up the universe."
Jarrod Chua's illusion with space began as an youngster. His parents used to take him to the library, there he would capsized over pictures books about space. Once grew up a little he moved towards astronomy related books, and till dated cling with latest space related developments via online articles and webcast.
He mentioned that "He find it fascinating how it's like the final frontier for human. Also added he like's the mystery of it and how we haven't explored vast of space.
Professionally Mr. Chua's father is a Chauffeur contrary his mother is as assistant executive of the Defense Science And Technology Agency.
Since his childhood Mr Chua was scribbling planets, stars and the solar system over sketchbooks.
His penetration for drawing wielded him to enroll in a business innovation and design diploma course at the Singapore Polytechnic, on a major of graphic design.
His intension of space illustration developed while he was flipping through other space related Instagram account those were ponderous.
He said "I could translate (content) into comics for people to be more interested in." He has designed about 100 such drawings, painting planets possessing simply observations and precise fact or thesis. Using adobe illustration it takes of him around three to four hours to complete one illustration.
His gotten feedback was amazing, he expressed." I received direct messages from people around the world supporting what I did, asking if I sold merchandise and if they could buy a book of my drawings.
"Some pre school teachers from overseas e-mailed me to say they like my work and used it to teach their kids."
In addition he said "I think it's because no other (comics creator) does this space related stuff, and I was helped out a lot by other comic creators who gave me shout-out on Instagram."
Mr. Chua's aspiration is to compose his drawing into children's books and transfigure his drawing of planet into plushier, likewise other merchandiser posters and keychains.
Along with , he urger his willingness for sponsors to be promoted his content in exchange of a small talent fee.
Mr. Chua's aim is to work for NASA in it's Washington Headquarters be a part with it's public outreach team.
To the end he enthusiastically express his eagerness to create awareness and set in motion some interest in space content for kids.

"Chua happily indulged his hobby of drawing planet-themed comics after being issued a stay-home restriction order when he was doing his national service in June 2020.
He then put the drawings on an Instagram page called @spaceytales.
A life-long space enthusiast, his hobby also helped to ward off boredom.
To Mr Chua's, surprise his Instagram account attracted about 1000 followers in just one month and now has more to rocked then 9000.
He said "Because I like space a lot and I can do a bit of graphic design, I thought why not combine my interests and my skill..."
"So I decided to create an account with comics for fun."
Now, Mr Chua,22,is over the moon that his artwork has caught the eye of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or Nasa.
The United Spaces agency contacted him in July 2020 for permission to repost one of his drawings linked to Nasa's James Webb Space Telescope-a (US$9) billion instrument designed to look further into the cosmos.
A few months later, Nasa got in touch with him again.
This time , it asked to work with him to modified one of his Illustrations into a postcard format ,to use in it's public outreach efforts.
In return, Nasa paid him $1,000.
Mr Chua said: "At first was I was quite happy and shocked, and didn't think much of it. I thought they were just going to repost my drawing and that is it."
"Then it started to get more serious, and I was surprised that they wanted to pay me because I would have been happy if they didn't pay me as well."
He added," I am very happy that they saw potential in my comics."
